SAUGUS — On Thursday, the School Committee and Executive Director of Finance and Administration Pola Andrews reviewed the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Actual to Budget as of Oct. 31, 2024.
“This is just a snapshot, a moment in time, of the expenditures and encumbrances of the school department thus far,” Andrews said.
She continued to say Saugus Public Schools has expended and encumbered $10,921,317.42 to date.
The schools have come out of the grant funding that they received due to the pandemic and are now working to sustain all of the initiatives that they put into place during that time.
“This budget reflects countless conversations with my fellow directors in order to meet the needs of the student population,” she said.
The budget also includes all of the shifts that occurred since June, including new staff, turnovers and position changes.
Andrews added that, from an operations standpoint, the regular day bus and special education bus bids would be going out soon and that the cleaning contract request would be submitted shortly as well.
During this meeting, the committee also voted on Amendment #1 from the budget.
The amendment was “to reallocate lines for turnovers and column movements and shift funding between expense lines to align with needs,” according to the meeting agenda.
The committee voted four to one in favor of the amendment.
