SWAMPSCOTT — A fire engulfed a house on 84 Pine St. as a crowd of community members gather outside on the street to watch the Fire Department maintain the scene.

At least three fire trucks clogged Pine Street in efforts to battle the flames.

Engines from the Lynn and Marblehead Fire Departments arrived on the scene within minutes to assist Swampscott Fire Rescue.

Smoke continues to billow out of the roof at 84 Pine St., in Swampscott as fire crews work to extinguish hotspots following a two-alarm fire Tuesday morning.

“At 10 a.m., emergency services received a call regarding a fire on the rear porch of a house on 84 Pine St. When I arrived, the fire on the porch was extending up toward the attic, and eventually it managed to start spreading on the main home. When fire services arrived, they went straight to work and tried to isolate the fire to the rear of the house. Within 45 minutes, they were able to knock down the main body of fire. Due to construction features of the house, it was a little tricky. At this point, they have it under control and are chasing down the last few hotspots,” Fire Chief Graham Archer said.

At the moment the cause of the fire remains unknown.
