LYNNFIELD — With the Christmas holiday just weeks away, there’s a surefire way to get an early start on your shopping and ring in some festive holiday cheer at the Historic Lynnfield’s Country Store. From a visit from Santa, kids’ crafts, holiday carols and plenty of delicious food treats, the store has a little something for everyone to jumpstart the season.
The event will take place on Dec. 7 at the Old Meeting House on the Town Common.
Doors open at 9 a.m. and will remain open through the Lynnfield Recreation Department’s 3 p.m. Tree Lighting and Whobilation festivities. Vendors will include favorites from the past, as well as some exciting new additions sure to bring a smile to your face.
There will be beautifully decorated fresh wreaths, evergreens and swags from the Village Home and Garden Club, the popular Cheese Man Vermont cheddar cheese table sponsored by the Nikki Martin Team, ham and bean suppers to go, Mrs. Claus’ Snacks and Lunch Kitchen, baked goods, popcorn, Singing Marshes Jelly and Jams and the Centre Club’s popular lottery contest.
Craft vendors include homemade blankets and aprons by Busy Fingers, Nora’s Honey and Beeswaxed Candles, Christmas ornaments from Handmade by Hollis, beautiful crochet stuffed animals and blankets by Seriously Magical Creations, Children’s Sensory Kits by She Creates, Light & Gale Candles, and snuggly warm poncho blankets by Ma’s Cozy Plankos.
For the kids, new this year, the Children’s Holiday Book Bazaar features a large assortment of children’s holiday books. The “penny” candy store will make a return this year sponsored by the Kilgore family, and the Holiday Ornament Decorating station is back sponsored by the Nascembeni and DiFillippo families, where children will be invited to decorate ornaments to take home as a remembrance of this beloved annual tradition. Connor’s Kindness will be operating the very popular North Pole Fishing Hole. Also, be sure to drop your letters in the Letters to Santa mailbox.
The popular Voices of Hope chorus will perform upstairs at 10 a.m., and Santa will arrive from the North Pole on a Lynnfield fire truck at 10:45 a.m. He will be available for photos until 2 p.m.
This is the third year Historic Lynnfield has run the store. This year’s volunteers are being led by the Country Store committee consisting of Historic Lynnfield Co-Chairs, Karen Nascembeni and Karen Hathaway, Lynnfield Historical Commission board members Kirk Mansfield and John Michalski and Historic Lynnfield board members, Nan Hockenbury, Inta Brazelis-Simeone, Sharon McLaughlin Marrama, Lauri Priestley and Michelle Johnson.
