Mass Health Connector hosts Square One Mall pop-up

December 4, 2024 by Elizabeth Della Piana

SAUGUS — Massachusetts Health Connector is hosting an event at the Square One Mall on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to promote the 2025 Open Enrollment season.

“Health Connector is the official health insurance marketplace. Anybody who doesn’t already have health insurance coverage, whether that’s a job or a program like Medicare, can get health insurance coverage, and it’s the only place in the state that allows you to qualify for help lowering the cost of that health insurance,” Executive Directory Audrey Morse Gasteier said.

The open enrollment period began on Nov. 1 and runs through Jan. 23, according to Morse Gasteier.

“We are out around the state trying to build awareness about open enrollment right now, particularly in advance of Dec. 23, which is the deadline to sign up if you want to start the new year with coverage,” she said.

The event at the Square One Mall is just one of the many ways they are looking to build awareness and to ensure people understand how to sign up.

“We’re going to be there with what is called navigators … These are trained folks who speak a variety of different languages. They are trained to answer questions and sit with people going through their application and just make the process less intimidating and less overwhelming,” Morse Gasteier said.

She said that people can go to mahealthconnector.org to find local navigators through the Help Center.

“Right now there’s more financial assistance available for Massachusetts families than ever before lowering their healthcare costs, and that’s because we’ve expanded eligibility for a special program we run called ConnectorCare that has low premium for people, no deductibles and very low copays,” Morse Gasteier said.
