LYNN — This Sunday, the New Lynn Coalition, along with several other organizations, are holding an event to welcome the local Haitian community.
The event is called ‘We Are All Lynn’ and will feature speakers from organizations such as Neighbor to Neighbor and the North Shore Labor Council, as well as clergy and teachers’ union leaders. The goal of the event is to help support and welcome Haitians, whether they are recent migrants or have already lived in Lynn for years. The program will also provide education about Haiti and its history.
“We want to counter the hateful rhetoric that was part of the last presidential campaign. Lynn is a city of immigrants, and we welcome people from all over the world. Our Haitian community comes here to work, build a good life and contribute to the community, just like other Lynn residents,” Tanveer Malik, executive director of the New Lynn Coalition, said.
The event starts at 1:15 p.m. with socializing and light refreshments courtesy of the North Shore Haitian Association. The program will start at 2 p.m. It will be hosted in the community room of St. Mary’s Church on 8 South Common St. All are welcome.
