December 13, 2024 by Adam Levine

PEABODY — The Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 12:02 p.m. at Santoro’s on Friday, Fire Chief Jay Dowling said.

The department responded to an accidental fire caused by a pizza oven at Santoro’s of Peabody, a local pizza restaurant located at 41 Main St., Dowling said. The sprinkler system activated, which kept the fire under control until the department arrived.

The firefighters knocked down the fire using one line within 10 to 15 minutes, Dowling said. No injuries were reported.

Residents of the eight units above Santoro’s were displaced and housed overnight with the help of the American Red Cross, he said.
