SWAMPSCOTT — Martha Schmidt, chair of the Climate Action Resiliency Committee, spoke during the Special Town Meeting about the committee’s new website, www.resilientswampscott.org.
The Committee’s aim is to generate more awareness about the effects of climate change throughout the community, while also working to encourage more participation to help try and reduce the carbon footprint, Schmidt said.
“We encourage everyone to take a look and to sign in,” Schmidt said. “It’s a great source for information on energy savings, programs, incentives, free events, and webinars.” She noted the website also has helpful tips for residents on ways they can work to reduce emissions.
Schmidt said going forward, Swampscott will be working closely with other towns and cities to collaborate on ways to reduce emissions and drum-up more advocacy throughout the communities.
The partnership between the entities, Schmidt said, is rooted in the Mass Energize Program. The program works with community organizers and local leaders to scale household and community-level climate actions, according to its website.
“Mass Energize is proud to support the Swampscott Climate Action and Resilience Committee by delivering a comprehensive suite of community engagement services, to inspire residents to take meaningful climate action,” according to the website.
