SAUGUS — With Christmas Day around the corner, state Rep. Donald Wong will host his annual Christmas party at the senior center on Tuesday afternoon.
The party typically includes live entertainment yearly, with Wong hiring bands to play for the evening. The room is full of senior center members every year, and the Board of Selectmen often attends the festivities.
“Donald Wong has been doing the holiday party here for years now. He sponsors the pastries after lunch and he sponsors the entertainment. He brings a ton of raffles, and every year, it’s a sold-out day. When I say sold out, I mean we reach full capacity,” Senior Center Director Laurie Davis said.
“The seniors really enjoy the gifts, and that he recognizes the community,” Davis said.
Wong has been hosting the event for the past 14 years.
“It’s for the seniors that have worked hard all their lives. It’s about time they have a Christmas party. A lot of them have families. They take care of their kids and grandkids … I love seeing everyone come together. We have a DJ and raffles. I get gift certificates from around town and bottles of wine so that they have something they can take home,” Wong said.
