LYNN — Lynn Community Health Center (LCHC) recently held its 28th annual Baby’s First Holiday party celebrating mothers and their newborns.
Since 1996, the event has allowed LCHC families to celebrate the holidays by dining together with LCHC OB/GYN staff. This year, 75 LCHC mothers and their newborns attended the event, held in the North Shore Community College gym.
The festivities included music, cookie decorating for older siblings, and gift bags for every new parent, which contained baby essentials and a grocery store gift certificate. Each mother also received a raffle ticket, which involved prizes such as strollers, pack’n’plays, highchairs, and more. Children also got a chance to meet Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, who made an appearance, as they do every year.
Twelve students from the Jefferson Forum at Marblehead High School also contributed as volunteers, bringing homemade cookies, serving food, and handing out gifts.
The Baby’s First event serves to build community and keep parents connected with their LCHC providers, letting them know that LCHC is always there as a resource.
“It’s wonderful to see patients and our OB/GYN staff sharing the afternoon, celebrating our youngest patients. It is truly a heartwarming event.” LCHC CEO Brenda Rodriguez, MBA, said. “We are fortunate to have longtime support of donors and volunteers who organize this LCHC keystone event.”
