In a “great atmosphere” at Charlestown High School, according to Lynn Tech boys basketball coach Corey Bingham, his Tigers met their match in game No. 1 of the season.
Charlestown escaped, 49-44, but Tech didn’t make it easy.
“We fought back late in the fourth quarter and made a nice little run to get within three points, but we just couldn’t get over the hump,” Bingham said.
In the end, time ran out on the Tigers. Bingham said missed free throws and turnovers plagued his side.
“From my point of view, we just didn’t play Tigers’ basketball,” he said.
Taking positives from a negative, Tech’s Giovanni Jean scored 20 points to go with five rebounds, while Andy Batista scored 14 points alongside five assists.
“We didn’t play our game,” Bingham said. “But that was a great atmosphere for the kids. For the most part, it was a gritty game.”
