SAUGUS — Danielle Domigan launched her company, Slumber Bash Boston, in May after her daughter asked for a sleepover birthday party.
Scrolling online, Domigan came across a teepee tent setup and realized she could not only replicate it but also elevate it.
“I knew I could do it, and I just ran with it,” Domigan said. “I created a website. I had no idea how to do any of this stuff, but I figured it out, and it’s been great.”
The business idea was partly driven by her desire to spend more time at home with her children. With her youngest just 2 1/2 years old, Domigan decided against returning to nursing and instead pursued this side business.
Within a week of launching, she had her first booking. October was her busiest month so far, with back-to-back parties. While some months are slower, October was fully booked, Domigan said.
A key feature of Slumber Bash Boston is Domigan’s dedication to making each party unique, even when using the same theme more than once.
“We have around eight to 10 themes right now, but we also do custom themes,” she said. “Even if someone picks the same theme, unless they specifically ask for exactly what’s in the website photo, I try to change it up a little.”
Current themes include Swiftie Sleepover, Enchanted, Game On, Glam Spa, and Paris.
Most of Domigan’s clients so far have been girls ages 10 to 12, but she hopes to expand her offerings to boys or even adults.
“I would love to get some boys interested,” she said. “I haven’t done a boy theme yet, but I’d love to come up with something that excites them. Boys can be tricky.”
Domigan has traveled across Massachusetts and booked parties in New Hampshire and Rhode Island. However, she hopes to gain more local clients.
She can handle up to two parties in one day if she has enough tents and beds.
“I can book up to 17 because that’s the number of beds we have,” she said. “We sanitize everything, really wash it all, and clean it thoroughly. A quick turnover would require an early pickup and late drop-off because it’s too intense to clean everything otherwise. Cleanliness is really important.”
Domigan said her favorite part of running Slumber Bash Boston is seeing kids’ excitement and crafting the themes.
“I love it when parents send me videos of the kids reacting to the setup,” she said. “When they tell me what theme they want, I get to make a vision board and figure out how I can really expand on it.”
Slumber Bash Boston has brought Domigan closer to her original goal of spending more time with her children while offering her the chance to connect with families through creative party setups.
Whether for kids or adults, Domigan said she’s ready to create a party to remember.
Slumber Bash Boston can accommodate up to 17 guests as long as there is enough space. Domigan can also create setups without teepees and works to accommodate any theme.
