You know what I’ve been thinking? The holiday season came early for fans of Lynn Tech’s girls basketball team.
That’s because Engelyz Bingham, a dominant ball-carrier and scorer in the Commonwealth Athletic Conference, has been putting on a show for the past week.
In a 68-25 win against Innovation, she poured in 18 points to go with nine rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Despite a loss to Greater Lowell, 50-35, Bingham still did her thing with another 18 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and a block.
Then, the big performance. One night later in a 58-26 win against Nashoba, Bingham dropped 25 points to go with 10 rebounds, three steals, and two assists.
Through the three-game stretch, she averaged 20.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.3 steals. Not bad.
Kaitlyn Wechsler, head coach of the 2-1 Tigers, couldn’t be more proud of her star player.
“Engelyz is off to a hot start in her senior season,” Wechsler said. “She has put in immense work and it continues to show in her strong performances. I’m excited to see her lead our team this season and leave her legacy on our program and in the city.”
Next up for Tech is a city showdown against Lynn Classical (2-1). Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m. this Friday at St. Mary’s Tony C. Gymnasium.
Engelyz, good week.
