Lynn opens various commission applications

December 25, 2024 by Craig Dawe

LYNN — The city has opened applications for individuals interested in serving on the conservation, stadium, and traffic commissions.

For all three commissions, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

“I encourage all residents to consider learning more about our boards or commissions, as well as considering applying for a position,” Mayor Jared C. Nicholson said. “These volunteer opportunities are a great way to get involved in shaping our community’s future and providing unique perspectives and expertise that can make a real difference. There is always great work happening with our boards and commissions and we know that with further collaboration, there is much to contribute to making our city even better.”

The Conservation Commission is involved with protecting Lynn’s wildlife, water resources, and environment. The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month.

The Stadium Commission is responsible for overseeing how the land of Manning Field and Fraser Field is used. Meetings will be held at 3 p.m. twice a year, although the commission may also be called in further when needed.

The Traffic Commission is involved with implementing, changing, or removing rules related to traffic, parking, and vehicle movement on city streets. It can also enact temporary regulations for public safety or convenience. The commission meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m.

Regular participation is expected for all three commissions, and individuals with knowledge or backgrounds related to any of them are strongly encouraged to apply.

The applications, and additional information, can be found at lynnma.gov/city_government/boards_and_commissions.
