LYNN – Mr. and Mrs. Claus made a special stop along their route Tuesday night to drop off presents during the Christmas Eve parade through the city,
The parade kicked off on Summer Street just after 5 p.m., before ending at Lynngate Plaza more than four hours later. The event, which first started as a tradition back in 1986, covers more than 23 miles of Lynn streets.
“We are overjoyed by the record-breaking numbers of floats and characters that graced our beloved jolly streets of Lynn,” said the Lynn Christmas Parade Committee on its event page. “To all the participants, volunteers, and spectators, your energy and smiles filled the streets with joy and cheer. Lynn, we love you and cannot thank you enough for making this parade a success.”
According to CBS Boston, the event featured more than 120 floats and more than 100,000 spectators.
One highlight of the night involved Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, who were able to take time from their busy schedules to make an appearance. Despite initial problems with Santa’s truck, quick troubleshooting from Action Emergency Management was able to provide Mr. and Mrs. Claus with a tower ladder fire truck to ride in instead.
This allowed Mr. and Mrs. Claus to make a special stop during their parade route, where they dropped off extra presents to Jaelyn, Londyn, and Charlotte, three children who recently lost their mother, Trisha Lynne Sirois, to pancreatic cancer in September.
