NAHANT — The North American Collegiate Karate Conference (NACKC) will be kicking off 2025 in style, as they keep the tradition of training residents in the ways of martial arts on Nahant Beach.
Residents are encouraged to join the fun of the NACKC’s Tabata-Ha annual tradition on Jan. 12, as they prepare to start their annual New Year’s Kangeiko (winter training), which is open to all community members looking to expand their horizons.
According to the group’s Facebook post, Sensei Kazumi Tabata leads the students in a session that begins early in the morning. “This year, we will be there again to welcome 2025 in style and say hello to the sun on Sunday morning,” the Facebook post said.
The group will gather near the end of Nahant Beach, near the Tides Restaurant. Residents are asked to park in the beach parking lot rather than the Tides parking lot. The event will commence at 6 a.m. sharp.
Workouts will include a light jog down the beach and will include various drills, the Facebook post stated. Residents are also asked to dress appropriately for the temperature. Layers under karate gear are recommended.
The event will be free of charge to all. After the event, the group will reconvene for breakfast at Brother’s Deli on Market Street.
