MARBLEHEAD — The highly-popular A&D Clam Box will close the doors of its current Pleasant Street location Tuesday due to lease issues, but the restaurant’s owners hope to find another location, in town if possible.
With a 4.8 rating and over 200 reviews, A&D is well-liked by its customers, especially during the summer. The restaurant, opened a year and a half ago, sold popular items such as lobster rolls, fried clams, and fish tacos.
On Thursday the A&D Instagram page posted a notice the establishment will be closing its doors permanently Tuesday. The post stated the landlord did not want to extend the short-term lease, but a new location will be announced soon.
Owner David Qyarsi said, “Our main goal is to open in Marblehead, but I don’t know,” regarding reopening in Marblehead.
Qyarsi explained they hope to reopen in a new location by late February or March, but it all depends on the location. If he can find a location that was previously a restaurant it will take less work to prepare, in contrast, a non-restaurant location would require more work.
The new location would consist of the same menu, the same quality seafood, but possibly the addition of some new items said Qyarsi.
Similar to many small businesses in Marblehead, the community was nothing but supportive of the new seafood spot upon its opening in January 2023.
Qyarsi said, “The Marblehead community has been great with us, people loved it. It was like a trial, but it worked and everybody loves it.”
He extends his whole-hearted thanks to all the people who walked through the doors of A&D Clam Box and enjoyed the seafood they prepared. He hopes to remain in such a welcoming town moving forward.
A&D Clam Box will be announcing their new location soon, the announcement can be found on any of their social media pages.
