NAHANT — A 21-year-old Lynn man is due back in court Jan. 23 after being arrested the day after Christmas for operating his vehicle on the Nahant Beach reservation while under the influence of liquor, police said.
Angel Montas was driving erratically on the reservation, police said.
According to the press release, the report initially came into dispatch around 1:45 p.m. that afternoon, with reports of a vehicle on the sand, doing doughnuts on Long Beach. The initial investigation showed that Montas had made multiple trips onto the beach. Montas operated his vehicle at a rate of high speeds within close vicinity of pedestrians, where he then did donuts in the sand before attempting to drive into the ocean.
No pedestrians were harmed before or after the arrest, the press release stated.
Montas was arrested with charges of operating under the influence of alcohol, assault with a dangerous weapon on a person over the age of 60, assault with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle with window obstructed/non-transparent, marked lanes violation, no inspection sticker, and number plate violation.
Montas was arraigned Friday in Lynn District Court. He’s due back in court on Jan. 23 for a pre-trial hearing.
Prior to the arrest, a video made its way around Facebook showing the vehicle spinning around the sand with pedestrians within the vicinity: https://www.facebook.com/bobby.zee.5621/videos/1851493778721920/?idorvanity=531569677002106
