NAHANT — Residents throughout Nahant are getting ready to say farewell to the holiday season in style, as they prepare a big blaze of fire at Bailey’s Hill.
The Nahant Department of Public Works (DPW) recently announced the return of their annual “Christmas Tree Bonfire” event, which will officially kick off on Jan. 10. The event will begin at 6 p.m. sharp. Community members are encouraged to come participate and celebrate the start of the New Year.
From now until Jan. 10, the DPW has been busy at work going around town and collecting curbside Christmas trees throughout Swampscott. The DPW asks residents that when they make the rounds to pick up them up, that all decorations, lights, tinsel and tree-stands are removed before collection.
On the chance that it rains on the night of Jan. 10, the official rain-date for the event will be the next day, Jan. 11.
