LYNN – Thanks to support from the Element Care PACE Center, local caregiver Jody Robertson was able to find the right home for her 93-year old mother, Helen Rogers.
Robertson started the search for a new facility for her mother in 2023, when they could no longer afford the cost of their previous assisted living facility. The search proved to be difficult, with facilities being at capacity or too expensive. Eventually, Rogers moved in with Robertson, which introduced a new problem of trying to find the right type of home-based health care, which was similarly difficult.
But, thanks to help from Element Care PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care), Robertson’s fortunes ultimately turned around. Within just a month of talking to Element Care, Robertson was able to get her mom accepted into MassHealth and enrolled in Element Care.
She mentioned that when she had tried to go through a similar process with her stepfather in the past, without the help of Element Care the process had taken six months.
“That’s how quick it was. I mean, it’s just extraordinary.”
She also praised the excellent personal service of Element Care, stating “They were so kind and lovely, and it was amazing to watch them. It was honestly stunning.”
The Element Care PACE Center, which first started in Lynn in 1995 according to its website, is a non-profit healthcare organization. Their mission is simple: “to help older adults live safely and comfortably in their homes and communities for as long as they can, keeping their stays in hospitals and nursing facilities as minimal as possible.”
Robertson says she wishes that the standards set by Element Care could be matched across the country. “I have dealt with a lot of elder care in my life. They are like none other. They have professionalism, care and empathy.”
“Honestly, I tell people everywhere, just go talk to Element Care. These are the people that are on your side that are willing to help you and figure out how you stay in your home or how you get better health care. There’s nothing like them in the whole country,” she added.
