SAUGUS — John Cannon has been re-elected to the Saugus Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.
Cannon was first elected to the board in 2016, filling a vacancy. However, he was quickly elected chairman by unanimous vote. He has also done much work to gain knowledge on public and affordable housing. He was re-elected to the board Thursday.
Cannon is an active member of the Saugus community, having held the position of Chairman of the Affordable Housing Trust and as an officer of the American Legion Department of Massachusetts. He is currently on the Finance Committee for the legion.
He also has many qualifications with Certificates from the Mel King Institute for Community Building, Mel King Institute of Public Housing Budget Management, Massachusetts Union of Public Housing Tenants, Massachusetts Association of Community Development, Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General, and Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Program, according to an article he wrote while running for re-election in 2021.
“I’m very happy to be back on the commission, and I look forward to fulfilling my duties,” Cannon said.
