You know what I’ve been thinking? For one generation, Oscar Robertson is the triple-double king. For a newer generation, it’s Russell Westbrook. And for fans of Lynn Classical’s boys basketball team, it’s Rolky Brea Arias.
Arias, a junior, led the Rams to a 2-0 week with wins against Everett (68-57 Thursday) and Revere (64-51 Sunday). The victories upped Classical’s record to 5-3. Coach Marvin Avery’s squad has defeated Somerville, Malden, Chelsea, Everett, and Revere, but fallen to Lynn English, Lynn Tech, and KIPP Academy.
Despite the up-and-down stretch, Arias has been productive on a nightly basis – this week included.
He recorded 20 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists against Everett. Who knows if a triple-double was on his mind, but Arias made sure of it Sunday morning when he recorded 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists against Revere.
After the monstrous performances, it’s no wonder he was named a Greater Boston League All-Star last winter.
Next up for the Rams is a visit to Swampscott High at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Rolky, good week.
