BOSTON — Jansyel Hernandez, 22, of Lynn pleaded guilty in federal court on Monday for possession of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Hernandez and codefendant Juan Ramos were charged with a criminal complaint in May 2023. U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris scheduled sentencing for April 17, 2025, according to a press release from United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy.
In April 2023, a Lynn apartment was found to be rented fraudulently under a fake name. The listed tenant did not exist, and the property was being used as a hub for drug distribution and packaging, according to the release.
On May 2, 2023, the police executed a search at the apartment, where Hernandez and Ramos were found. The two fled via the balcony but were apprehended a short distance away.
Ramos was on pretrial release for a domestic violence offense and had to wear a court-ordered GPS bracelet. Records from the GPS show that Ramos regularly traveled to the apartment.
The search of the apartment led to law enforcement finding 1,200 grams of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine. Additionally, 30 pounds of cutting agent, blenders, scales and other paraphernalia used in the distribution and packaging of drugs were also found.
The police also uncovered a .38 caliber Taurus revolver in the apartment. A search of Ramos’ vehicle parked outside contained 200 grams of fentanyl and a .40 caliber Glock pistol hidden away in a compartment under the driver’s seat.
Ramos pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 90 months in federal prison.
