Saugus’ girls basketball team fell to Masconomet, 51-40, at home on Thursday, but not without history being made. Junior guard Peyton DiBiasio scored 27 points and became the girls program’s all-time points leader. She surpassed Norma Waggett (1,110 points), who’s now an assistant coach with the Sachems.
It’s been a busy month for DiBiasio, who crossed the 1,000-point mark in mid-December. The 5-foot-8 sharpshooter averaged 19 points, six rebounds, and four assists as a Northeastern Conference All-Star last winter. Shay Sewell scored five points Thursday night, while Madison Botta impacted the game defensively.
