You know what I’ve been thinking? If you head to Lynn Classical’s boys basketball website, there are lots of green W’s and not so many red L’s.
The Rams, helmed by coach Marvin Avery, are riding a three-game winning streak against Everett (67-58), Revere (64-51), and Swampscott (69-59).
All three games were relatively tight. After close halftime scores against Everett and Revere, Classical put together two fourth-quarter runs.
Rolky Brea Arias, a triple-double threat on a nightly basis, and do-it-all Shy Babb have led the charge. DJ Reynolds contributed with a 14-point performance against Revere, while Deshawn Rucker netted 14 points against Swampscott.
A win’s a win, but the big one came against Swampscott, which was unbeaten ahead of Tuesday night’s matchup. The Rams took care of the Big Blue by double digits and allowed just two points in the second quarter.
Avery put it best postgame.
“If you get through our defense, you’ll be all right,” he said. “If you can’t, it’s going to be a long night.”
Taking down a heavy crowd on enemy hardwood wasn’t too shabby, either.
“The kids got a little bit agitated… but we fought through it,” Avery said. “Swampscott is one of the hardest places to play. To get a road win in Swampscott is big for us.”
The Rams (6-3) host Medford (4-4) at 7 p.m. on Friday.
