SWAMPSCOTT — Historical Commission Chair Nancy Schultz confirmed that the town is busy trying to improve structural elements of the General Glover Farmhouse, a local landmark that dates back to the 1700s.
“We’re working with Sunbeam Development Limited Partnership, the owners of the house, to try and figure out how to save the site in some way,” Schultz said. She noted that back in December, the town allocated ARPA funds toward the project to help improve the structure.
The allocations include $30,000 toward structural engineering services, while another $10,000 was allocated for tarping the building, Schultz said.
She added that the commission is partnering with Structures North, an engineering consulting firm. The goal, Schultz added, is for the consulting firm to examine the property and find possible ways to stabilize the structural elements of the building.
Schultz also said that the town is using a local contractor, Emery Construction, to put a huge industrial tarp over the property “to prevent the incursion of more water,” she said.
Schultz expects work on the project will be completed this week.
