It was a good night for Lynn Tech basketball fans. The boys took down New Heights Charter School of Brockton, 55-48, at home, while the girls defeated Northeast Metro, 52-41, in enemy territory.
Leading the boys were Giovanni Jean (18 points, 4 rebounds) and Awan Awan (12 points, 10 rebounds). Coach Corey Bingham added that Johan Plaza was the game’s “unsung hero” with four points and seven rebounds.
“We finally came out here and played Lynn Tech basketball for four quarters,” Bingham said. “The result was us getting a win. They were a good team – tall and long. It was a good game from beginning to end. The guys came up big today and were all over the place.”
The girls were led by Engelyz Bingham’s 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals. She was followed by Allison Morales (15 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 steals) and Jaylianniez Beauchamp (9 points, 7 steals, 2 assists). Niya Bingham (6 points, 3 steals) led all rebounders with 13.
The girls upped their record to 5-3, while the boys look to turn the page at 2-7.
“It was a nice win and we’re looking to make a run,” Corey Bingham said.

Classical put on a show at home with three players scoring 15 or more points. The Rams (7-3) were guided by Rolky Brea Arias (19 points, 15 rebounds), DJ Reynolds (18 points), and Shyheim Babb (16 points).

The Spartans (9-0) took care of business at Tony C. Gymnasium in Lynn with a double-digit victory against Stang. JJ Martinez (18 points) and June Vasquez (15) led offensively.
