SAUGUS — A serious crash occurred on Walnut Street early Wednesday that involved the driver being half-ejected from their vehicle after crashing into a pole, the Northeast Emergency Alert reported.
“From about one o’clock this morning, we received several 911 calls of a serious accident on Walnut Street,” Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli said. “We found a 2011 Toyota Carola with heavy damage and a 40-year-old male operator with significant injuries.”
Ricciardelli said that officers administrated care until the ambulance arrived and that the driver, who was unresponsive, was taken to the hospital.
“The vehicle was towed away from the scene, and it’s not under investigation,” he said.
As of publishing, police are still waiting to speak to the driver for information as no one witnessed the accident.
