The Torigian Family YMCA, 259 Lynnfield St., Peabody is hosting an indoor triathlon on Saturday, February 23. The event offers a unique triathlon-like experience. Participants will do a 20-minute swim in the pool followed by 20 minutes of cycling on a stationary bike and a 20-minute run on the treadmill. There will be five minutes between each segment for safe transition. The first wave begins at 8:30 a.m. with new waves starting every 25 minutes thereafter. Check in opens at 7:30 a.m. The first rules read will be at 8:10 a.m. The standard triathlon is open to ages 15 and up, while youth participants ages 9 to 14 will complete a modified format. Participants can register individually or as teams. Registration is $30 per person, $45 for teams and $20 for youth.
Race volunteers will record the total distance covered during the swim, bike, and run stages. The more distance covered, the higher the score. Prizes will be given to top finishers. The T-shirt registration deadline is Feb. 1.
Online registration is open until Thursday, Feb. 20. Register before Feb. 13 for an early bird discount. Registration will be available in person on Thursday, Feb. 20.
