LYNN — Lynn native and relator Juan Rodriguez wants to help community members navigate the murky waters of becoming first-time homeowners.

Rodriguez will host an event entitled “First Time Home Buyers Seminar” on Thursday, Jan. 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 90 Commercial St. He aims to help educate community members by gathered a team comprising a mortgage lender, an attorney and home inspector who can help explain every step in the process.

Rodriguez has been trying to find ways to focus his efforts by spreading the word across social media that Lynn is a great place to buy a home and settle down. Having grown up in the city and attended several schools, he said, “I’ve been all around Lynn. One of my biggest ambitions is really trying to change the narrative in Lynn.”

During the event, Rodriguez and his team will walk residents through the different phases of becoming a homeowner. The seminar will provide thorough, step-by-step guidance so attendees can focus on finding their dream homes and discuss opportunities to learn helpful knowledge about the industry. The team will also provide financial advice to keep interested attendees on the right track, he said.

Rodriguez said he sees a lot of potential growth and a better direction for the next generation. “I really want to show everyone that buying a property is not as hard as it seems,” he said. “If they have any limited beliefs, it might be due to a credit score or a number of things. Your situation right now doesn’t define your life. It’s just one of your defining moments.”

Rodriguez hopes that when people leave the seminar they are encouraged to keep pushing forward. “Ultimately, I’m gonna show them how they can get from ‘A to Z,’ and I’m gonna put my team in place to make it easy for them,” he said. “They really have nothing to worry about.”
