Monday kicked off Lynnfield’s week in style, with both the boys and girls basketball teams taking down Amesbury.
The boys escaped, 54-44, and upped their record to 7-2. Do-it-all Alex Fleming put on a show with 15 points and 15 rebounds, while Zach Pincus (13 points), Madux Iovinelli (12 points, 12 rebounds), and Kelan Cardinal (7 points) also played well.
On the girls’ side, they won, 45-34, despite trailing by six points in the second quarter. Hayden Valiton (4 blocks) led the team in scoring with 15 points, followed by Chloe Grieves, who netted 13 points to go with 20 rebounds.
“We figured things out defensively,” said Lynnfield coach Sue Breen, whose team is 4-7. “We continue to improve and gain confidence. We also continued to rebound well and pulled down 21 offensive rebounds.”

The Lady Crusaders (7-4) couldn’t capitalize inside of their home gym and fell to Central Catholic. Leading Fenwick were Celia Neilson (11 points, 6 assists) as well as Caitlin Boyle, Sienna Mancinelli, and Reese Spurchise, who all scored eight points.

The Spartans won their second consecutive game after taking down Winchester, 3-1, at Connery Rink in a Monday matinee. Kaylee Dinkel, Katie Sarazen, and Alyssa Norden scored, while Avery Sico once again played well in net just days after picking up her first career shutout.

The Jets (4-6-1) fought hard, but fell on enemy ice despite goals from Kyle Furlong and AJ Lopez. They’re back in action Saturday in a home game against Everett beginning at 4 p.m.
