January 23, 2025 by Joey Barrett

Lynn English’s girls and boys basketball teams had it cooking Thursday night. The girls hit the road to Malden and returned home with a 61-55 win. On the other side, the boys took down Somerville, 60-38, on home hardwood.

Second-year coach Sydney Brennan’s Lady Bulldogs (8-6) have upped their winning streak to six games with victories against Revere, Everett twice, Chelsea, Medford, and now Malden. Leading the way Thursday were Amara Flores (21 points), Dayana Hios (17), and Jayleen Novas-Rivera (11).

On the boys’ side, coach Alvin Abreu’s Bulldogs (7-6) rode a 29-15 halftime lead all the way to victory. Standout performances came from Louis Ledesma (22 points), Andrew Karoma (14), and Denzell Guillen (11).
