Lynn English’s girls and boys basketball teams had it cooking Thursday night. The girls hit the road to Malden and returned home with a 61-55 win. On the other side, the boys took down Somerville, 60-38, on home hardwood.
Second-year coach Sydney Brennan’s Lady Bulldogs (8-6) have upped their winning streak to six games with victories against Revere, Everett twice, Chelsea, Medford, and now Malden. Leading the way Thursday were Amara Flores (21 points), Dayana Hios (17), and Jayleen Novas-Rivera (11).
On the boys’ side, coach Alvin Abreu’s Bulldogs (7-6) rode a 29-15 halftime lead all the way to victory. Standout performances came from Louis Ledesma (22 points), Andrew Karoma (14), and Denzell Guillen (11).

Shyheim Babb scored 14 points – including the game-winning putback – to help give the visiting Rams (11-3) their eighth consecutive win. Rolky Brea Arias scored 24 points alongside 10 rebounds, while Deshawn Rucker joined the party with 12 points.

The Tanners fell short in enemy territory, despite a 14-point, five-steal performance from Olivia Gaynor. She was followed by Sophia Coburn (11 points, 9 rebounds), and Maia Davis (11 points), as well as Ally Bettencourt and Aliana Ryan, who also played well, according to coach Stan McKeen.
