LYNN — The criminal case of Malachi Wright-Godfrey will be moving forward to the Superior Court in Salem following an indictment last week.
According to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, Wright-Godfrey was indicted on Jan. 16, nearly a month after he was arraigned in the Lynn District Court. He faces charges on several counts, including possession of a large-capacity firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition without a firearm ID, assault and battery on a public employee, and carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds.
The Lynn Police Department arrested the 18-year-old in late December for allegedly bringing a loaded gun to Lynn Classical High School. Wright-Godfrey pleaded not guilty to all charges. He was ordered to be held without bail.
This past Tuesday, Wright-Godfrey appeared for a probable cause hearing at Lynn District Court, where the judge listened to evidence from witnesses to determine if there was sufficient evidence to send the case to the Superior Court. His new arraignment is expected to take place Feb. 11.
