SAUGUS — During a traffic stop in East Boston on Wednesday, a Saugus man was arrested for possessing a firearm and bags of marijuana.
23-year-old William Henderson was pulled over for failing to signal at the intersection of Vallar Road and Faywood Avenue, according to the Boston Police Department.
Upon pulling Henderson over, officers could smell a strong odor of unburned marijuana. Officers observed a large plastic freezer bag of marijuana in plain view. It exceeded the legal possession limit. They also found four other large freezer bags of marijuana, a scale, Ziploc bags, and parchment paper, which are items associated with drug distribution.
Officers also uncovered a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver with five live rounds under Henderson’s driver’s seat.
Henderson was taken into custody and brought to Nashua Street Jail. According to the Boston Police Department, he is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court with charges that include carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of marijuana over the legal limit, intent to distribute a Class D substance, and failure to signal.
