You know what I’ve been thinking? It’s a little reminiscent of the 1972 Miami Dolphins. And, the 2007… nevermind.
Anyway…
Wednesday night was a good one for the Saugus-Peabody co-op wrestling team, which completed a perfect regular season at 16-0. With its 46-29 win against Beverly – another then-undefeated powerhouse – the team captured its first Northeastern Conference dual-meet championship in program history.
By the way, the Beverly Panthers, the defending champions, have been the team to beat for the last half-a-decade – or more.
But Saugus-Peabody grappled behind some of its stars – Anna Felicio, Max LoRusso, Antonio Anzalone, Justin Bremberg, and Jackson Deleidi – to capture the crown.
Coach Wayne Moda’s team also took care of business last Saturday, sweeping a quad-meet it hosted at the Saugus Middle High School. Bremberg, Cesar Cruz, and Deleidi won all three of their matches, while Mike Maraio, LoRusso, Tucker Landry, and Felicio also finished 3-0 with one win each by forfeit.
As if the week couldn’t get any better, Thursday was the cherry on top with Saugus-Peabody winning another – this time, against Northeast Metro Tech.
Grapplers, keep grappling.
