Lynn’s co-op wrestling team took on Wakefield and Arlington at Wakefield Memorial High School on Saturday. Arlington was perfect and improved to 21-0, but not without Lynn positives.
Pablo Maldonado defeated opponents from both schools, while Eric Ayala defeated his Wakefield opponent before sitting out of his match against Arlington so that his teammate, Davi De Oliveira, would have enough varsity matches under his belt to participate in the state qualifiers.
“To say that I am proud of Eric’s sacrifice would be an understatement, but that’s the kind of team we have,” said Lynn coach Frank Vieira. “They all put each other before themselves. I am more than proud. I am honored to coach such selfless athletes. They are an amazing team.”
Kaden Brazzo was injured, but stayed in the match to take down his Wakefield opponent.
