Tuesday night, blue colored out red as both the boys and girls basketball teams from Swampscott took down Saugus.
Swampscott’s girls won, 33-29, in a crucial road game. They upped their record to 8-6 before Thursday night’s home matchup against Revere.
The Big Blue trailed by as many as eight points, but bounced back behind freshman Anna Kanders, who netted 14 points to go with nine rebounds. Junior Sam Ward chipped in six points, sophomore Olivia Quagrello added five alongside eight rebounds, and sophomore Cecilia Tripp came up big with nine rebounds.
On the boys’ side, a 69-51 home win, Connor Chiarello continued his stellar season with 30 points. Teddy O’Neill (13 points, 8 assists, 4 steals) did a little bit of everything, while Michael Litko scored 12 points off the bench. Swampscott improved to 9-6 ahead of Friday’s game in Salem.
Taylor Deleidi scored seven points to lead the Saugus girls, while the boys were led by Ryan Shea (17 points), Danny Zeitz (11), Cam Victor (9), and Ryan Dupuy (7).

A road game was no problem for St. Mary’s, which remained perfect (17-0) with another win against its traditional archrival. Jake Fortier led the way with 18 points, followed by Devell Pamplin (15 points, 7 rebounds).
GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lynn Classical 29
Classical (12-5) held a narrow lead in the first half, but dropped a one-possession game at Triton Regional High School. Keisha Perez led the team with nine points, followed by Nevaeh Eth’s seven. The Lady Rams, who already clinched a state tournament spot, were ranked No. 42 in Tuesday’s Division 3 power rankings. They host Everett at 6 p.m. on Thursday for Senior Night.

Marblehead 27
Despite the home-court loss, Marblehead coach Paul Moran said it was “maybe our best effort all season.” His Magicians were led by Tessa Andriano (11 points) and Greta Sachs (10).
“The kids gave an all-out effort,” Moran said.
The Tanners (7-7) were led by Olivia Gaynor (14 points, 5 assists, 5 steals), Lizzie Bettencourt (8 points, 8 rebounds), and Ally Bettencourt (6 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals). Avery Bettencourt, Aliana Ryan, and Maia Davis all played strong games, according to Peabody coach Stan McKeen, whose team hosts Danvers this Friday for Senior Night.
