Saturday’s boys hockey showdown between Marblehead and Danvers came with five goal celebrations, but none from the Falcons in a 5-0 Marblehead win.
The defending champion Headers, ranked No. 5 in the Division 3 power rankings, dominated the action with London McDonald (2 goals) and Avin Rodovsky (goal, 2 assists) leading the way.
Kyle Hart was the Headers’ top playmaker, dishing out three assists while netminder Leo Burdge played well between the pipes to secure another shutout.
Coach Mark Marfione and the Headers return to action Monday for a 7 p.m. game inside of Gloucester’s Talbot Rink.

The Prep made its way to Tate Rink in West Point, New York for a matchup with traditional archrival Catholic Memorial, which escaped with a shutout win after a late empty-netter. Catholic Memorial scored twice in the second period to put pressure on the Eagles.

Enemy ice was no problem for Lynnfield, which escaped Amesbury after Owen Considine’s two-goal performance. He tucked the game’s first goal, then went home with the game-winning strike in the third period.

BC High’s Drew Karlovits (19 saves) secured another shutout as the No. 8 Eagles took down No. 11 St. Mary’s at Connery Rink on Saturday.

SWIMMING AND DIVING
St. Mary’s Isabella Morillo impressed in Saturday’s Division 1 sectionals held at MIT, finishing third in both the 200 individual medley (2:15.07) and 100 backstroke (1:02.59) to advance to next weekend’s state championship.
The Bishop Fenwick girls took part in Saturday’s North Sectionals at MIT, placing eighth out of 23 teams. Impressive performances came from Sarah Shann (8th in 1m diving with 397.9 points), Amelia Gallant (6th in 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.27; 2nd in 500 freestyle with a time of 5:15.68), Caroline Blatchford (3rd in 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.88; 3rd in 100 freestyle with a time of 55.07), and Hannah Ryan (8th in 100 freestyle with a time of 56.63; 8th in 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.78). The 200 freestyle relay team of Ryan, Blatchford, Gallant, and Courtney McKenzie placed 11th (1:50.34) to qualify for Division 1 states.
