With the TD Garden filled and the bright lights shining on the ice, it was Boston University getting the better of Boston College in the Beanpot Championship game on Monday evening. The No. 9 ranked Terriers defeated No. 1 Boston College 4-1.
Boston College struck first in the opening period after Ryan Leonard found Gabe Perreault who fired it past Boston University’s goalie to make it 1-0.
In the second period, Brandon Svoboda went short-side up to tie the game. Then just over one minute later, Cole Hutson gave Boston University a 2-1 lead and the Terriers didn’t look back.
Boston University took its lead into the third period and got an insurance goal with 6:08 left in the game thanks to Cole Eiserman. The fourth goal came from Gavin McCarthy who scored an open-net goal to seal the game and crown Boston University Beanpot Champions. This was Boston University’s 32nd Beanpot Championship.
In the consultation game, Harvard defeated Northeastern 4-3. Harvard’s goals came from Mick Thompson, Mason Langenbrunner (2), and forward Casey Severo. Northeastern got goals from Jack Williams (2) and Cristophe Tellier.
