Superstar junior JJ Martinez scored his 1,000th point in the Spartans 69-55 win over East Boston. Martinez entered the game needing just 11 points and he finished the game with a game-high 30.
Martinez connected on a three-pointer late in the second quarter after Jake Fortier found him at the top of the arc and Martinez hit nothing but net to cement his legacy in St. Mary’s history books.
Martinez is the second St. Mary’s student-athlete to hit the 1,000-point mark this season after Bella Owumi netted her 1,000th point just two weeks ago.
Devell Pamplin added 16 points to help St. Mary’s stay undefeated.

The Pioneers (12-5) couldn’t stop Newburyport (17-1) on Monday night. Alex Fleming poured in 18 points but it wasn’t enough. Iain McCarthy, Madux Iovinelli, and Zach Pincus all scored 10 points each in the loss.

The Bulldogs (8-8) couldn’t pick up the road win on Monday night. Lynn English was led by Denzell Guillen who scored a team-high 26 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Jacolby Veil added 13.

The Panthers lost a close game to Shawsheen (15-2) in overtime. Nate Jean-Francois led Shawsheen with 13 points.

On Senior Night the Bulldogs came out with a strong performance against Chelsea. Senior captain Amara Flores scored a game-high 33 points. Fellow seniors Saniya Patton and Alisha Soto both scored 10 points each to fuel the Bulldogs.
The win puts the Bulldogs at 10-7 and they have officially qualified for the postseason.

The Crusaders dropped to 8-9 on the season after being defeated by Wachusett on Monday evening.
Celia Neilson led the Crusaders with 20 points while grabbing six rebounds. Caitlin Boyle finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds on the night.

After needing a buzzer-beater to beat Bishop Feehan on Friday night, the Spartans cruised to a 34-point road victory.
Bella Owumi led the team with 23 points while teammate Gabi Lorenzini chipped in with 15.

Despite an 11-point and nine-rebound performance from Lynn Tech’s Engelyz Bingham, the Tigers (11-6) were beaten on the road. Allison Morales scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds in the loss.

The Big Blue of Swampscott protected home court with a 24-point victory. It was Swampscott’s defense that stepped up in the second half allowing just 11 points. With the win, Swampscott (10-6) qualifies for the state tournament for the first time in six years.
Freshman Anna Kanders led the scoring with 23 points while sophomore Cecilia Tripp added 12.

The Tanners fell short on the road after a hard-fought game against Waltham.
It was a balanced scoring attack for Peabody with Maia Davis leading the team with seven points. Ally Bettencourt, Avery Bettencourt, Lizzie, Bettencourt, and Sophia Coburn all finished with six points each.

Gloucester 4
If you like goals Monday’s Northeastern Conference matchup was the place to be as the Headers squeaked by the Fisherman.
Marblehead struck first after Will Sullivan found the back of the net. But 16 seconds later, Cam Amero equalized the scoring to make it 1-1 after the first period.
In the second period, Marblehead’s Hayden Gallo scored less than a minute into the period before Kyle Hart added the Headers third to make it 3-1.
Gloucester got a goal back to make it 3-2 before the end of the second period.
Cade Cooper tied it for Gloucester in the third period. Then with under three minutes left in the game, Teddy Dulac scored for the Headers. But just like in the first period, it took less than 30 seconds for Gloucester to equalize with Cooper scoring again.
Marblehead hit Gloucester with its own medicine scoring 30 seconds after the Fisherman had equalized it to make it 5-4, the eventual final score.

It was a big road win for the Black and Blue on Monday evening.
Sophomore Jaymes Carey, junior captain Liam O’Brien, senior Greg Podstrelov, senior captain Clive Connolly, senior captain Mason Hinshaw, senior Alejandro Haven, junior captain Colin Hart, and captain Justin Gonzalez, all picked up a win for Marblehead-Swampscott.
