To the editor:
In less than two months we will be hearing those two famous words, “play ball.” It will be the start of the 2025 Major League Baseball season.
That got me to thinking. Wouldn’t it be great if Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, loved sports and showed an interest in buying the Boston Red Sox?
Just imagine being able to bring several of baseball’s greatest pitchers to Boston. They could also sign Pete Alonso, the former Mets first-baseman, currently a free agent, to a lucrative contract. Wouldn’t he look great in a Red Sox uniform?
And why stop with the Red Sox? Elon could also buy the Celtics who are currently up for sale.
And let’s not forget about the Bruins. Elon could buy them as well.
Just imagine! In one year alone, the Red Sox would win the World Series, the Celtics would win another NBA title, and the Bruins would wind up with the Stanley Cup.
Of course, as intriguing as this might seem to many sports aficionados, it is unlikely to happen for a number of reasons that could only be explained in detail by a sports attorney.
Just the same, isn’t it nice to be able to dream about something that could possibly happen in the not too distant future?
Sincerely,
Edward J. Julian
