Elizabeth Della Piana

February 20, 2025 by Elizabeth Della Piana

Essex Media Group will present its 2024 Persons of the Year Thursday at the Lynn Museum, 590 Washington St. The event begins at 6 p.m.
The honorees – from Lynn, Lynnfield, Marblehead, Nahant, Peabody, Saugus, and Swampscott – will be recognized for their significant contributions to their communities.

The EMG Persons of the Year are:

In Lynn, Joel Abramson will be honored for his years of dedication to the Lynn School District. Abramson has been a major advocate for the mental health of students, ensuring students have multiple avenues where they can seek help.

The Lynnfield Veterans War Memorial Committee will be recognized for the hours it spent creating a memorial for the 1,090 local men and women who served, leaving open spaces to memorialize future names.

Marblehead’s Shube family will be recognized for their continued work to ensure that all who enter Shubie’s enjoy their stay. The family is committed to serving its community through donations to community health, religious, and nonprofit organizations.

Nahant Town Moderator David G. Conlin will be celebrated for his 34 years of service, taking on any challenge he faces at Town Meeting and remaining dedicated to the community.

Peabody’s Maria Scheri, through continuous advocacy, has helped make the streets safer with the passing of Bill H.4940. Scheri will be honored for her nonstop fight to protect children from reckless drivers.

In Saugus, Senior Center Director Laurie Davis will be recognized for turning the senior center into a home away from home for all community members and pushing the message that kindness is key.

Swampscott’s Kacy Jauron will be recognized for her career based on service and community wellness. Jauron was inspired to create Coastal Collective, a place for her to operate the Jauron Family Foundation and community members looking for a space to work.

The event is free to the public. Seating is limited. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
