LYNN — East Baptist Church in Lynn is rallying the community for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich-making event on Sunday, March 2nd, following its 10:45 a.m. service.
The initiative, led by the church’s outreach team, supports My Brother’s Table, a vital organization that provides free meals to anyone in need, serving an increasing number of people, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Church members have previously supported My Brother’s Table through similar service projects, assembling sandwiches, packing lunch bags, and volunteering directly at the meal center. This upcoming event continues that tradition, and organizers invite the broader community to contribute by attending or donating essential supplies.
Donations of peanut butter, jelly, bread, juice boxes, plastic spoons, napkins, and non-perishable snack items such as granola bars or crackers are welcome. Items can be dropped off at East Baptist Church on Sunday, February 23rd, or Sunday, March 2nd before the event.
The initiative is spearheaded by Kimberlee Lee, a dedicated member of the church’s outreach team whose journey to full-time community service was years in the making. Lee spent much of her professional career in biotechnology, working for Cell Signaling Technology in Danvers, where she was deeply involved in corporate-sponsored volunteer projects and community grants. Through this work, she developed strong connections with local nonprofits, frequently returning to Lynn to support organizations such as The Food Project, Raw Art Works, The Haven Project, and A Bed for Every Child.
Feeling a deep calling to service, she and her husband decided to make a permanent commitment to the community, officially moving to Lynn in 2019. In 2021, Lee left her career in science to dedicate herself fully to nonprofit work and local outreach. She now channels her passion for helping others to organize volunteer initiatives and strengthen support for those in need.
“My Brother’s Table does incredible work, making sure that anyone who walks through their doors has a meal,” Lee said. “We want to do whatever we can to support them and ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.”
For Lee, this event is more than just a service project — it’s a reflection of her faith, her personal mission, and the collective effort needed to care for one another.
All are welcome to participate in this meaningful initiative, reinforcing the church’s and community’s commitment to supporting neighbors in need.
