Lynn plugs a leak on Willow and Oxford

Lynn — Residents along Willow Street and Oxford Street experienced a temporary water shutdown on Monday, February 24, 2025. According to an advisory from the Lynn Water and Sewer Commission, work on the water system required shutting down the water main from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., meaning affected homes and businesses experienced little to no water service during that time.

In an interview, Lynn Water & Sewer Commission Superintendent John Houlihan explained that the work was necessary to replace a leaking 6‑inch valve by the intersection of Willow Street and Oxford Street. “We attempted a repair on Friday, but the valve was beyond repair,” Houlihan said. As a result, crews worked to clear the area—removing dirt and debris—to install a new valve, a procedure that, while routine, demanded a more extensive shutdown than usual.

Residents with questions or in need of further information were encouraged to contact the Lynn Water and Sewer Commission.
