Holocaust survivor Helga Melmed to speak in Reading

For the Item

February 25, 2025 by For the Item

READING — Holocaust Survivor Helga Melmed will share her powerful story at the Reading High School Auditorium on March 3 at 7 p.m.

At just 13 years old, Melmed was deported to the Lodz Ghetto. She endured Auschwitz, forced labor camps, and a death march before her liberation in 1945. Flying in from Florida to speak at this event, Melmed’s testimony is a profound reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of remembrance.

The evening will open with a live violin performance of the Sounds of Schindler’s List, creating a reflective and meaningful atmosphere.

Tickets are $18 per person and $10 for students aged 14-18. Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available for $1,000, including recognition on all event materials.

“Hearing Helga’s story firsthand is a unique opportunity to honor those who perished and inspire future generations to build a better world,” Rabbi Sruly Brook, organizer of the event, said.

Seats are limited, and this event is expected to sell out. Reserve your tickets now to be part of this unforgettable evening.

Tickets can be purchased at Jewishwakefield.com/tickets. For more information, please contact 781.205.9593.

It will be a night to come together to remember, reflect, and ensure that the lessons of the Holocaust are preserved for generations to come.
