February 27, 2025 by Isaac Green

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) announced that Lynn Ferry services will begin weekday operations on Monday, March 31, 2025, with weekend service starting Saturday, May 24, 2025.

The ferry provides a convenient, eco-friendly travel option between Lynn and Boston. A one-way fare is $7.00 ($3.50 for Reduced Fare riders). Tickets are available via the MBTA mTicket app or with cash on board. Commuter Boat, Commuter Rail Zone 2+ passes, and M7 cards are accepted.

“The Lynn Ferry remains a vital transportation option, enhancing economic development and workforce mobility,” Senator Brendan Crighton said. Mayor Jared Nicholson emphasized its importance, where he said it was a “reliable and accessible transportation option that strengthens our community.”

Jim Cowdell, executive director of the Economic Development & Industrial Corporation of Lynn, noted that over 30,000 commuters used the ferry last year and confirmed EDIC will again provide free parking.

Full schedule details are available at mbta.com/ferry.
