Lynn Police debunk false serial killer rumors

Isaac Green

February 27, 2025 by Isaac Green

LYNN – The Lynn Police Department addressed social media posts claiming a serial killer is active in the area, firmly stating that there is no validity to these claims.

Lieutenant Richard Connick explained that while they have not received any direct inquiries or reports regarding the alleged threat, they decided to release a statement to ease public concerns. “This was something that has been circulating, not only regionally but nationally, and there’s absolutely no validity to the information,” he said.

The misinformation, which has appeared in various forms across different social media platforms, has also been falsely tied to other locations, including parts of New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Given its widespread local sharing, the department took proactive steps to clarify the situation.

“We just wanted to get ahead of it and put that statement out,” Connick said.

Authorities continue to urge the public to verify information before sharing it online to prevent unnecessary panic and misinformation.
