SAUGUS — What began as a kidnapping in Quincy ended with a man allegedly being beaten and tortured in town before being returned back to Quincy.
According to Quincy Police Chief Mark Kennedy, an adult male was kidnapped, but the incident remains under investigation, and no more details can be confirmed by police. Kennedy said it was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
Reportedly, the man was taken to a garage in Saugus where he was beaten with a gun. He also told police that his hands and face were burned with a lighter. It was also reported that the victim’s Rolex watch was stolen, along with thousands of dollars in cash.
Brian Cardoso of Dorchester was arraigned Tuesday at Quincy District Court for charges of identity fraud. However, it’s been reported that Cardoso could be involved in the kidnapping and torture case as he was found using the victim’s credit card in Boston and has gang affiliations.
As of right now, no other arrests have been made in the case. Cardoso has not been charged with the crime but will return to court in June for his fraud charge.
