Donald Trump’s “Fight like hell” mentality has found its way into the mindset of Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin. Allvin says he’ll “do whatever President Donald Trump wants,” including putting “warheads on foreheads.” (“‘Warheads on Foreheads’: Top Leader for Air Force, Space Force leaning into Defense Secretary’s rhetoric” 3-5-35, military.com)
Sounds like the General won’t mind reducing entire communities to rubble and taking out loads of civilians to get at cartel operatives in Trump’s upcoming war against Mexico.
Allvin says, “We signed up . . . to be warfighters . . .” Folks, for 250 years the philosophy of our armed forces has been to be “peacekeepers,” not warfighters. But that has all taken a deadly turn under our new commander-in-chief.
For the military to forget about paying attention to domestic and international law, the politics of consent in a democracy, and civilized-era curbs on collateral damage and torture, is a big mistake. Welcome to Manifest Destiny II, Trump style.
The blood of innocent people will be on the hands of Donald Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Gen. David Allvin, and MAGA’s “turn-our-heads-the-other-way” leaders in Congress.
