LYNN — GE Aerospace announced Wednesday that it will invest $31 million in its Lynn facility as part of a nearly $1 billion expansion of its U.S. manufacturing operations in 2025.
The investment will fund upgrades to existing machines to prevent downtime, the addition of new equipment and tooling to maintain production quality, the retrofitting of test cells, and infrastructure improvements. The Lynn facility remains a critical site for GE Aerospace, where engines for military fighter jets, helicopters, and naval ships are manufactured, assembled, and tested.
“We know the U.S. armed services and our allies count on us to deliver high-quality engines to complete their mission,” said John McCarron, site leader for GE Aerospace in Lynn. “It’s an important role we play here at Lynn and why we continue to make these significant investments.”
This investment follows $30 million in 2024 and $31 million in 2023, reinforcing GE Aerospace’s commitment to the Lynn facility. The company currently has about 50 open positions at the site as part of its ongoing workforce expansion.
GE Aerospace is also investing in workforce development. The company recently donated $1 million to extend the Advanced Manufacturing Training Expansion Program through 2027. The public-private partnership aims to build and maintain a high-quality, ready-to-work manufacturing pipeline across the North Shore region. To date, the program has enrolled 600 local adults, with an 83% job placement rate across more than 140 area companies.
“We continue to invest in the Lynn site,” said Alexis Kievning, communications specialist for GE Aerospace in Lynn. “This year’s investment builds on the $61 million invested over the past two years. We are committed to strengthening our workforce and ensuring long-term success for our manufacturing operations in Massachusetts.”
The Lynn facility is one of several locations benefiting from GE Aerospace’s $1 billion U.S. manufacturing investment. That includes $500 million to expand production capacity, with a focus on military engines such as the T901 Black Hawk and Apache helicopter engine. The company also plans to hire approximately 5,000 U.S. manufacturing and engineering workers in 2025.
GE Aerospace says the investment aims to enhance production efficiency and expand its workforce.
