LTTE: Re-elect Katie Phelan for Swampscott

To the editor

March 24, 2025 by To the editor

To the editor:

I am writing to express my strong support for Katie Phelan’s reelection to the Swampscott Select Board. For the past three years, Katie has proven herself to be an invaluable leader, consistently demonstrating her honesty, her dedication, and her deep commitment to Swampscott.

One of Katie’s greatest strengths is her ability to approach every issue with fairness and careful consideration. She listens, and then carefully considers all viewpoints before making decisions. Her thoughtful, balanced approach has been a cornerstone of her leadership, allowing her to make choices that truly serve the best interests of Swampscott.

Beyond her decision-making skills, Katie is a tireless advocate for the community resources and events that make our town a better place to live. Whether it’s supporting local resources or working to improve our infrastructure, she is always focused on improving Swampscott. I witnessed this dedication firsthand in her support to help reopen Big Blue Bargains, a local non-profit thrift store. She saw the ways in which it would benefit the community and worked with town leadership to help bring it back to life. Her dedication is also evident in the countless hours she has devoted to this town in her position on the Select Board.

Katie Phelan is exactly the kind of leader we need — principled, compassionate, and willing to put in the hard work to continue to improve Swampscott. I encourage you to show up and cast your vote for her on April 29.
